Most Popular Pregnancy Cravings

Who is currently growing a tiny human and is craving something out of the ordinary like there is no tomorrow ?! Pregnancy cravings are to be expected and also tend to come at the worst times, like in the middle of the night or after your significant other just ate the exact thing you are wanting. We took the infamous question, ‘What are you craving?’, to our mom tribe and these are the results:

 Bring on the Pickles

We all know the most common pregnancy craving: pickles. This was no surprise as an answer to our poll. There is just something about those salty, sour pickles and their juice that expectant mamas just love. Many of the mamas and mamas-to-be who responded said they wanted pickles of some sort, mixed in some way. Even if you absolutely hate pickles it seems when you get pregnant that it just doesn’t matter anymore, your body just craves them.

If you are craving pickles try this recipe for Dill Pickle Soup, it only takes 40 minutes to make and tastes amazing. (Your significant other will likely love it too!)

But would it be a pregnancy craving unless we combined the pickles with another food? A couple of the more interesting combinations we received:

  • Pickles with peanut butter
  • Pickles in cereal
  • Pickle juice on french fries
  • Pickles and strawberry yogurt

To a non pregnant person these combos probably sound disgusting, but hey, you want what you want! To each their own!

Packing in the Heat

Some mamas told us they never liked spicy food before pregnancy but for some reason the baby wanted hot and spicy foods.  These poor moms ate all sorts of hot foods. Anything from plain hot sauce to hot peppers, or really anything spicy they could get their hands on. Just be warned if you give in to these spicy cravings you might end up with heartburn, and that is never fun.

Check out this 30 minute recipe for Spicy Roasted Cauliflower. This recipe is fast and a great grab and go snack to keep on hand for those emergency craving moments! Plus, it actually tastes really good.

Ice Cream and Chocolate and Brownies - Oh My!

Ahh yes, the amazing sweets cravings. You can never go wrong with ice cream, brownies, milkshakes, and well, anything smothered in chocolate. Many mommies want something sweet and let’s be honest, having a baby is the perfect reason to indulge your sweet tooth a little more than usual. You deserve it, afterall you are growing a baby inside of you!

If you are looking for something to help satisfy that sweet craving check out  Cookies & Cream Truffles. With only three ingredients you don’t need much to make them and as a bonus they are portable and the whole family will enjoy! Seriously, they are to die for.

 Peanut Butter

We already talked about mixing peanut butter with pickles (sorry for that visual), but some mamas told us they craved adding peanut butter to some other food items; chili, grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich (this one actually sounds appetizing), and spicy peanut butter pork chops. Uh, peanut butter and pork chops?? Strange but okay….

These Easy Thai Noodles with Peanut Sauce actually sound pretty delicious and are done in under 30 minutes! This is the perfect recipe to get your peanut butter fix and have a fast home cooked meal! Yum!
