Color of the Year 2024: Most Stylish Nursery Decor

Toward the end of each year, all the design and decor blogs start buzzing with anticipation as the world’s foremost color authorities – Pantone, paint companies like Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams, and so on – announce their chosen color of the year. While these are often thought to reflect widespread moods and trends – after the mega-downer that was 2020, for instance, Pantone selected “warm and optimistic” Illuminating as its 2021 color of the year – what's fascinating is how much the 2024 color of the year shades vary from one company to another. About half of them went with a tranquil blue shade, for example, but a few others skewed toward peaches and earth tones, and yet another completely zagged with “Cracked Pepper.” (Given that some of our most stylish cribs come in Caviar Black and Ebony, we fully support that choice!)

Pantone Color of the Year 2024: Peach Fuzz

Coordinating Crib: Woodland 4-in-1 Crib in Brushed Truffle 

Pantone says its 2024 color of the year “captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others” and calls it a shade that “effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.” With a warm, stained shiplap and pinewood construction, Woodland is the perfect cozy complement.  

Benjamin Moore Color of the Year 2024: Blue Nova

Coordinating Crib: Farmhouse 4-in-1 Crib in Brushed Cotton 

Blue Nova – a medium blue with a hint of grey undertones – can “elevate the everyday and expand horizons” with its “enchanting duality” according to Benjamin Moore. The ivory-like Brushed Cotton finish of the Farmhouse crib is a close match for Benjamin Moore’s preferred coordinating shade, “clean and classic” White Dove. 

Sherwin Williams 2024 Color of the Year: Upward

Coordinating Crib: Scout 4-in-1 Crib in Matte White 

SW suggests this “breezy, blissful” light blue “for spaces brimming with positive energy” -- what better place than a nursery for that? The versatile Scout Crib, meanwhile, matches Upward’s “relaxed and carefree” vibe with a gentle arch and charming beadboard details. 

Behr 2024 Color of the Year: Cracked Pepper

Coordinating Crib: Park Heights 4-in-1 Euro Crib in Caviar Black 

So, we wouldn’t necessarily suggest painting your nursery walls with this “versatile soft black,” but the luxe finish of the Park Heights Crib – hand finished in the USA and the latest addition to Child Craft’s upscale Legacy Collection – evokes the same sophisticated, soothing feel.  

Farrow & Ball Color of the Year 2024: Clay Tones

Coordinating Crib: Denman 4-in-1 Crib in Midnight Gray 

British paint company Farrow & Ball – renowned for its rich hues and whimsical names – doesn't name one specific color of the year, but the brand’s Color Curator Joa Studholme did tell design blog Real Homes she predicts a return to “reassuring comfort and familiarity” in 2024 through warm clay tones like Stirabout (pictured above). The quality Craftsman details and rustic finish of our Denman Collection help create the same neutral, light-filled ambiance that Studholme says “give rooms an uplift.” 

Glidden 2024 Color of the Year: Limitless

Coordinating Crib: Cranbrook 4-in-1 Crib in Ebony 

Just a touch warmer than a neutral, this “sunny” hue “hints at growth and blooming energy,” according to Glidden. The Cranbrook Crib’s cool Mid-Century Modern silhouette and elegant finish provide the perfect contemporary counterbalance.  

Dulux Color of the Year 2024: Sweet Embrace

Coordinating Crib: Camden 4-in-1 Crib in Cool Gray 

Dulux calls Sweet Embrace a “kind, delicate tone that brings a feeling of positivity to our lives.” The Camden Crib matches that thoughtfulness and warmth with a softly arched top, detailed cap rails, and a soothing gray finish.  

Dunn-Edwards Color of the Year: Skipping Stones

Coordinating Crib: Ocean Grove 4-in-1 Crib in White/Brown 

There's no better pairing for a “serene and steely blue” that’s “meditative and energizing like the sea” than our coastal-inspired Ocean Grove Crib, which features a textured two-tone finish with a light natural wood. If you like the shade but prefer something different for your nursery walls, our Wynwood Crib in Nautical Gray has a similarly serene vibe.  

Graham & Brown Color of the Year 2024: Viridis

Valspar Color of the Year 2024: Renew Blue
