We’re all raring to go this summer and enjoy the travel we’ve missed so much. Before you take off with your little one, make sure you’re set with a safe, comfortable, clean crib or travel yard. While sleep schedules can be tricky to stick to on vacation, keeping some sense of normalcy will help you stay away from meltdownville—not a nice place to visit. This checklist can help you prepare, and make sure the whole family is more well-rested while you’re away.

Safe Travels Crib Checklist

1. First things first. When you make your reservations, make sure your hotel or vacation rental will have cribs available. Don’t panic if they don’t. See below for options.
2. Ask if your crib meets with all current safety standards. If it doesn’t, get one that does.
3. Make sure your hotel crib has been properly cleaned and sanitized before it gets to your room. Don’t hesitate to ask about crib cleaning procedures and crib sheet laundering.
4. Never place your hotel crib near anything that poses a threat of injury like window blind cords.
5. Double check that the sheets are crib sheets that fit tight to the mattress and won’t loosen while your child sleeps. Never use adult linens on a crib.

No cribs at the inn?
